If hats are interests, Amanda has worn a bunch of them. She started her journey as an educator, and has been passionate about doing things differently from the very beginning. Whether that included integrating technology into her classroom when VHS was still a mode of media or creating educational experiences that helped her students learn through doing, she has worked to connect the classroom with the real world. She is also equally passionate about beautiful design and branding.
After starting her career in education and edtech, she developed a fascination with WordPress design and eventually launched her own side-business doing freelance web design and graphics work when she was in her early 20s. She later became a certified Google for Education trainer and began training educators and professionals in GSuite best practices, as well as helping companies set up their GSuite domains.
Amanda’s desire to change the way her classroom operated and to give students a real-world education opened the door for her to become a Learn to Start Instructor partnered with The Startup Studio at Windermere Preparatory School. Through this program, she gets to bring entrepreneurship to students in a way that gives them the chance to become their most authentic selves while learning through real-world, hands-on experiences, and often through failure. She loves being part of a unique program that not only builds the skills and knowledge of an entrepreneur but also the habits and mindsets needed to be successful in life, regardless of what paths her students take in the future.
As hats go, there’s always one that becomes a favorite and finally, her passion for teaching outside-the-box was married to her love of design and branding when she became a part of The Startup Studio team as the Director of Marketing & Events. Now she directs her time and energy into designing and building their beautiful website and instructor portal, crafting purposeful graphics and print materials, and making sure everything else is on-brand, in addition to mentoring her Learn to Start students.
